James Vernon "JV" Brock, 89, of Oak Ridge passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 2, 1928 in Clifty, TN, the son of Lee and Amanda Johnson Brock.
Mr. Brock has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1953, coming from Crossville.
He retired in 1987 after serving 33 years in the military, which included the US Navy during WWII, US Army from 1948 – 1949, 19 years with the Naval Reserve and 12 years with the Air National Guard. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was a machinist. He was a long-time member of Highland View Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith Brock and by several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by wife of 70 years, Ethelene Jackson Brock;
son, Michael Lynn Brock and wife Kay of Cleveland, TN;
daughters, Donna Sheets and husband Andy of Oak Ridge and
Patricia Ann Morrow and partner Michael Morrow of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Jay Brock and wife Jessica of Knoxville, Tonya Hinton and husband Scott of Oak Ridge, Mandi Elliott and husband Charlie of Knoxville, Leah Matthews and husband Todd of Atlanta, Dennis Brock and wife Jaime of Petros and Jeff Brock and wife Dee of Kingston; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17th from 3 – 5pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 5pm with Curtis McClane officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday at 11am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service with military honors provided by the US Navy Honor Guard.
