nn Anderson Hammond, age 83 of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City.
He was born Jan. 25, 1934 in Kingsport, Tenn., the son of Rev. Mayden and Pansy Hammond.
Mr. Hammond graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelors in Chemistry and minors in Mathematics and Physics.
He married his wife Barbara Ann Hammond, now deceased, in 1957 and served more than 33 years in technical and management positions with the U.S. government at the Dept. of Energy and former Atomic Energy Commission.
Mr. Hammond was a member of the United Methodist Church and Lions Club of Damascus, MD where he lived over 30 years in his vocation. Hobbies included golf and automobile maintenance.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his son, Steven Anderson Hammond of Houston, Texas, brother Billy John Hammond and his wife Susan of Pfafftown, N.C., and brother in-law John Douglas Looney and his wife, Sarah Frances of Fairport, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge TN. Family and friends are invited to graveside services on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City, TN.
