James Wesley Miller, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, April 23, 2017.
He was born December 10, 1932 in Knoxville, TN, the son of Donovan L. and Ellen Tennessee Keeble Miller.
Mr. Miller served with the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Miller retired from the Department of Energy where he is an illustrator. He was an avid supporter of the Oak Ridge High School football program. Woodworking and creating furniture was a hobby that he enjoyed. He also enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Panera Coffee Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Miller in 2012 and by sisters, Alma Livesay of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Norma Cappiello, of Oak Ridge.
He is survived by son, James W. Miller, Jr. and wife Lisa of Oak Ridge and daughter, Jennifer Miller Ward and husband Michael of Oak Ridge; sister, Katheryn Brezler of Seymour; 4 grandchildren, Holly Miller, Jacob Miller, Jonny Miller and Josh Miller and 1 great-grandson, Drew Thomas.
The family would like to express a special thanks to NHC Doctors and Staff, especially Capricia, Dori and Derek.
The family will have a private graveside service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Rev. Steve McDonald officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Oak Ridge Football program in his memory be considered.
