Emily Jane Muse Ruckart, 87, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at UT Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born December 29, 1929 in Cookeville, TN, one of four children born to Robert W. and Eliza Allison Muse. She graduated from Central High School in Murfreesboro, TN in 1947 and from Middle Tennessee State College in 1951.
On May 1, 1954, she married Ralph Raymond Ruckart who preceded her in death, December 24, 1966.
Mrs. Ruckart was employed with Carbide & Carbon Chemicals Company from 1951 - 1955 and from 1965 to 1994 with Martin Marietta Energy Systems, where she retired as an accountant in the Fusion Energy Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In 1975, she was certified as a professional secretary.
Mrs. Ruckart was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, for over 50 years, where she had been active as an Administrative Board Member, Sunday School Teacher, and active in the United Methodist Women. In earlier years, she was also active in the Robertsville PTA, Cub Scout Den Mother and Assistant Den Mother. She was a master Bridge player and an avid reader.
She is survived by son, Steve Ruckart and wife Carol of Murfreesboro; daughter, Laura Lee Ruckart Morgan of Oak Ridge; brothers, Bobby Muse of Tullahoma and Jimmy Muse of Halls; sister, Joan Lowe of Lewisburg; 2 grandchildren, Rachel Wiles and husband Brad of Kingston Springs, TN and
Katelyn Fuson and husband Chad of Franklin, TN; 3 great-grandchildren, Timothy Wiles, Bella Wiles and Willa Fuson and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 27, 2017 from 12 – 2pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will begin at 2 pm with Dr. Don Morris officiating. Family and friends will meet for a graveside service on Tuesday at 11am at Anderson Memorial Gardens, with Karen Spearman, the Congregational Care Minister officiating. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, 451 E. Tennessee Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, in her memory.
