Jennifer Lee Bolling

Memorial for Jennifer Lee Bolling

Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on May 27, 1961
Departed on Mar. 11, 2017 and resided in Oak Ridge, TN.

Jennifer "Jenny" Lee Bolling, was born on May 27, 1961, and departed this life on Saturday, March 11, 2017. She was born the fourth child of Keys and Dora Bolling at Oak Ridge Hospital, and was affectionately nicknamed "Fireball" by her daddy, indicating her zest for life. Jenny was a lifelong Oak Ridger and attended Elm Grove Elementary School and Jefferson Junior High School where she played several sports, including basketball and softball. It was at Jefferson Junior High and Kern United Methodist Church that she met and forged some lifetime friendships with her "pack of girlfriends" that enjoyed playing sports together, along with learning about Jesus Christ. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1978.
Jenny successfully opened and operated a local business, The Bridal Shoppe, in the early 1980's where she and her husband provided flowers, bridal attire, and catering for the Anderson County community. Later, she worked at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant in the Waste Management Division. Jenny took medical retirement in the early 1990's due to health issues associated with Type 1/Juvenile Diabetes that she had developed at age seven.
Jenny was a strong supporter of organ donation and was given the life-giving gift of a successfully transplanted kidney at the University of Tennessee Hospital by Dr. Mitchell Goldman and his team. Dr. Goldman became a lifelong friend and mentor to Jenny. Later in life, when Jenny's transplanted kidney began to fail, due to her diabetes, she was again blessed to receive an innovative pancreas-kidney transplant at the University of Minnesota. The double transplant was a huge success and Jenny was able to return to college and pursue a major in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee.
Jenny loved animals and adopted three cats, BooBoo, Max and Sam whom she adored with all of her heart and they returned that love. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and talking daily with the "best neighbors and friends in the world," Jim and Gabriella Hicks.
Her parents, Keys (KD) and Dora Bolling, preceded Jenny in death. Her brother and his wife, John and Becky Bolling, Oak Ridge; her sister and her husband Julie and Randy Mehlon, Baton Rouge, LA.; and her sister, Barbara and Rick Brogdon, Clinton, survive her. Also mourning her passing are nieces Janet B. and Mike Bivens, Oak Ridge: Susan B. and Jason Tipton, Clinton; Melinda M. and "T" Wright, Wilmore, KY; nephews Thomas D and Katie Bolling, Knoxville; Matthew J. Mehlon, and Andrew M. Mehlon. Baton Rouge, LA. Great nieces and nephews are Jillian Bivens, Ben Bivens, Brennan Tipton, Graelyn Tipton, Lawson Wright, and Parker Wright. Seven aunts, five uncles, and numerous cousins who live in Virginia and North Carolina also survive Jenny.
There will be a celebration of Jenny's life in late April. Friends and family are invited to share favorite memories. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
