Verona "Betty" Elizabeth Davy, 97, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017.
She was born May 11, 1919 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Velma and Charles Marvin.
She moved to Marshfield, WI in 1921 and lived there until 1942. On September 3, 1938, she married W. H. Davy. The family moved to Oak Ridge in early 1944.
Mrs. Davy was a charter member and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #390; a member of Trinity Methodist Church; and past president of Ladies of the Elks.
She assisted her husband, a charter member, in the survey and planning of the Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association.
In addition to her parents and husband of 68 years, she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Patricia Carroll Davy; granddaughter, Cynthia Davy; brother, Charles Marvin; sister, Ione Bailey and all other forbearers.
She is survived by children, W. H. Davy Jr and wife Patricia Cox Davy of Oak Ridge, Susan Simpson of Clinton and Gene Davy and wife Sarah of Knoxville; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Donna Wilson who was our mother's caretaker for the last 4 years.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5 – 7pm at Weatherford Mortuary. A service by Eastern Star, Chapter #390 will begin at 7pm. Funeral will follow at 7:15pm, Rev. Sam Polson officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at 12:30pm for graveside service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Shriners or to a charity of choice in her memory. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
