Edward "Scotty" Albert Scott, 92, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at NHC Health Care Center.
He was born November 7, 1924 in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of Cornelius Vanderbilt Scott and Annie L. Frazier Scott.
Scotty was a veteran of WWII serving with the Army Air Force, where he was a pilot on the B24. After his discharge from the service, Scotty attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1950 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering.
He retired from Union Carbide Corporation where he was a Civil Engineer at the Y-12 plant.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Oak Ridge Sportsman Club. He was a big fan of the UT Vols football team. He was also a Radio Ham Operator, operating under W4VSN. He was an avid reader and loved history; enjoyed playing golf, gardening, Ball Room dancing, animals and fishing. In earlier years he was a Boy Scout and loved hiking at Buffalo Mountain. Scotty was also a member of the Elks Club and the Oak Ridge Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, who raised him, Kate Frazier and a brother, William A. Scott.
Scotty is survived by his special friend and long-time companion, Connie Barker of Oak Ridge and her daughters, Debora Leahy and husband Bruce of Oak Ridge and Pamela Barker of Hanalei, Hawaii.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 5 – 7pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7pm with Dr. Randy Hammer officiating. Family and friends will meet on Saturday at 11am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service. Military honors will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard.
