Hal Williams, 89 of Oak Ridge, passed away on February 3, 2010 at Briarcliff Health Care Center. He was born to parents Ben and Hattie Bland Williams in Oakland, Mississippi on May 20, 1920.
Hal came to Oak Ridge in the mid 40's and retired from ORNL.
He was a 62-year member and trustee of Oak Valley Baptist Church where he was a faithful member of the Sunday school department over 60 years and a member of the men's choir for over 50 years. Hal was also a member of Masonic Lodge # 354. He enjoyed gardening and walking as a past time.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Gussie Williams, April 6, 1981.
His survivors include: daughter, Barbara Arnold and husband, Ron, Knoxville; brother, Joe Louis Webb, St. Louis, MO; sister, Ernestine Exson, Chicago, IL; and granddaughters, Tanya Arnold and Alicia Arnold.
The funeral service will be held at Oak Valley Baptist Church on Monday, February 8, 2010, 1 PM with Rev. Hardil Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Hal Williams Community Building in care of Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
