Johnny "Red" Lamar Hunt, age 68, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home after a brief illness. He was born July 27, 1943 in Cleveland, TN, the son of James Lamar Hunt and Wynette Barnes Hunt. He and his family moved to Oak Ridge in 1944 where he spent most of his childhood. He moved back to the area in 1980. Mr. Hunt was a veteran who served with the US Navy. He was a member of AMVETS, Post #2 and he enjoyed playing pool and NASCAR. Mr. Hunt was the owner of Hunt's Automotive. He is survived by his son, John Lamar Hunt of Asheville, NC; brother, Jerry Barnes Hunt of Oak Ridge; the mother of his son, Jean W. Hunt of Asheville, NC; sister-in-law, Susan Brendel and husband Jay of York, PA; niece, Dallas Rabig of Mobile, AL; uncle, Robert H. Barnes and wife Louise of Alcoa and special friends, Sheila and Tim Kitts of Lake City. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 5 – 6pm at Weatherford Mortuary. A Memorial Service will follow at 6pm. The family asks that any memorials be made to the Anderson County Community Action Commission, 149 N. Main Street, Clinton, TN 37716.
