Donald Ray Hammitt, 72 of Oak Ridge, died on June 17, 2012.
He was born in Corinth, Mississippi on October 3, 1939 to parents J.E. and Mary Morgan and was a Veteran with the US Army, serving in Vietnam.
Donald enjoyed music, especially playing the pedal steel guitar, and he raced cars as a younger man. He worked as an operating engineer with Martin Marietta Energy Systems, Y-12 Facility.
Preceding him in death were his parents, J.E. "Joe" & Mary Morgan and his wife, Janis Hammitt, April of 1997.
His survivors include his daughter, Donna Blanton and husband, Kent, of Old Hickory, Tennessee and his granddaughters, Kaylee and Megan.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary, tonight, 8 PM with Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. The graveside service will be Thursday, 10 AM at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carl Bellon officiating. An online guest book may be signed at weatherfordmortuary.com
