Carol Glynn Sauer, age 70 of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away at home. She was born October 1, 1939 in Bridgeport, CT to Thomas and Mary Wilchinski Glynn. She graduated from Bullard Havens Technical High School in 1957 and then worked for the local phone company. A few years later, Carol enlisted into the United States Air Force. Carol graduated from Roane State Community College in 1981 with an associate's degree in history. Throughout her work career, she was employed by Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Contact Helpline of Oak Ridge and most recently the Oak Ridge Board of Education. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Glynn and her mother, Mary Glynn. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard P. "Hank" Sauer; daughter, Alison Sauer Chain, of Oak Ridge; son, Tom Sauer and his wife Megan Sauer of Charleston, SC; sister, Nancy Glynn Boyle of Shelton, CT; granddaughters, Brandee Chain of Oak Ridge and Hayden Sauer of Charleston, SC; grandson, Tommy James Sauer of Charleston; numerous nieces and nephews and first cousins; also many close friends, including The Saint Veronica Guild and Martina O'Brien. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to "The Kenya Education Foundation" in care of Father William Oruka St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1291 E. Madison Ave, Athens, Tennessee 37303 (Phone # 423-745-4277). A Memorial Service will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10 AM. Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge, TN in charge of arrangements.
