Stuart Paul Leinius, age 48, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, after a long illness. He was born July 6, 1962 in Oak Ridge and attended Linden, Robertsville, and Oak Ridge High School.
He served with the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1983. He returned to Tennessee and attended East Tennessee State University, where he studied criminal justice.
Stuart enjoyed music, reading, and sports. He had a remarkable memory of musicians and their works, and of his favorite authors and their books.
He was a generous person with a good sense of humor who would never hesitate to help someone. Kindness to animals was a special trademark that he exhibited from an early age.
He is survived by his children, Bryson and Annie Kate, special friend, Mary Nugent, sisters, Stephanie Brooks and Diane Leinius, and parents, Ronald and Marion, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. His beloved dogs, Czar and Xena, will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Tuesday, July 20, with services at 8 PM, at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge, with Martina O'Brien presiding. The family will gather at a later date for graveside services at the Veteran's Cemetery, Lyons View Drive in Knoxville for burial with military honors.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial gifts to be sent to animal shelters or the Humane Society.
