Ronald Fate “Ron” Cox, Sr., age 64
Ronald Fate “Ron” Cox, Sr., age 64, of Karns, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Noe, father, Francis Lafayette Cox, and brother, Robert Cox.
He is survived by his caring and loving wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Cox; children, Ronald F. Cox, Jr, of Karns, Sheri Lynn Cox and husband, Jim Younkin, of Oak Ridge; grandchild, Kenneth Corey Lee; great-grandchild Brennon Logan Lee; sister, Linda Curtis and husband Bill, of Cleveland, Tn; and Reva Lovett. He was greatly respected and will be missed by several in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 till 1979. He began his civilian career in 1975 in Plant Operations at K-25 and later was promoted to Property Manager and Department Head of Finances and Materials. He transitioned to Y-12 in 1998 becoming the Property and Materials Manager and Department Head of Excess Property and Materials Management until he retired in 2005. He was also a member of the National Property Management Association. Ron worked several years part-time with Henson Technical Projects performing procurement contract work.
Ron enjoyed his children, grandson and great-grandson, working in his woodshop and was a proud supporter of his Kentucky Wildcats.
Family will be receiving friends from 6:30 p.m till 8:30 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. V.P. Travis, Jr. officiating. A graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. An online guest book may be signed at weatherfordmortuary.com
